Geforce FX 5700 is roughly the same as the Radeon 9600 (in some tests, ATI is better, in others NVIDIA is better). In desktops, anything in a similar price range and released in the same generation is probably roughly comparable (although for the last year until the current generation of Geforce 6800s and Radeon X800s, the top ATI cards were generally a little better than the comparable NVIDIA cards).

You may find a Geforce 5900 at a very high price still and so it would seem that it is comparable to the latest Radeon X800s. However that is not the case and would simply be because the pricing has not yet been corrected on the older models. If there is any specific card that you want to know about, I will tell which one from the other manufacturer is comparable to it. That is correct.

Radeon 9200, 9100 and 9000 do not support DirectX 9. However, that does not mean that they will not run DirectX 9 games. The Geforce 4 Ti series can still run DirectX 9 games, even though it did not support DirectX 9. This is because DirectX 9 features are disabled when the games run on these cards. However, there will probably be games released in the fairly near future that will not run on the 9100 and 9000. It is also worth noting that the Geforce FX 5200 (and possibly 5500 as well) is too slow to run at a reasonable speed with DirectX 9 features enabled and so it might as well not support it.

I don't know your RAM and core speeds, but if you use some sort of ATI control panel extension or other over-clocking program, you will be able to see what they are. I might suggest the latest driver from (but not a BIOS update). Uninstall your current driver through add/remove programs in control panel. Since this 9600 is a so called 'best' card for I8500/I8600 and i know it is, but then i'm not too sure whether my FX5200 on desktop can stay for how long. Never bought any games lately, but i'm running smooth on GTA:VC, WarCraft3 and FIFA2004 on 1280x1024x32bit resolution and just wondering why people screams at their video cards lately on the board. Though i never try those games, but i guess its because of the cards performance. And the numbers are confusing me also, so i thought i might just ask someone and see if they'll help.
